Title: Nitrate-Nitrogen Accumulation and Movement In Some North Dakota Soils Under Dryland Conditions
Author: Patterson, D. D.; Dahnke, W. C.; Swenson, L. J.
Description: Several summer fallow fields were sampled periodically during the fallow period to monitor nitrate accumulation, and movement. Tillage appeared to cause a temporary immobilization of N03-N as newly incorporated organic matter was being mineralized. Nitrate leaching was not found to be a serious problem during this study except on very sandy soils which received excessive amounts of rainfall.
