A Volga-German House for the Hessenpark

Ein Wolgadeutsches Haus Fuer den Hessenpark

"A Volga-German House for the Hessenpark." Volk auf dem Weg, December 2007, 48.

This translation from the original German-language text to American English is provided by Alex Herzog, Boulder, Colorado

As reported in this issue, following the conclusion of the 6th Forum for the Encounter Centers in Moscow, a small delegation of representatives of the Landsmannschaft traveled to the Volga region to gather information and conduct negotiations concerning the potential festivities for the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the emigration of Volga-Germans.

Among other matters, there were discussions on the intent of the Landsmannschaft to erect a Volga-German house in the open-air museum in Neu-Anspach (in the Taunus [Mountains of Germany]). In fact, this is not intended to be a new building or a reproduction. Rather, the intent is to transport an original wooden home from the Volga region to the Hessenpark.

The fact that there still are valuable objects for this project is shown by the photos on this page that were taken by Dr. Alfred Eisfeld in Orlovskoye.

Our appreciation is extended to Alex Herzog for translation of this article.
